Four Star Event Rider
Willa Newton is one of the UK’s most talented up-and-coming event riders. Born into a family of avid equestrians, Willa began riding as a member of the Belvoir Hunt Pony Club and grew up enjoying hunting and began her eventing career in earnest at age 16.
Willa and her horse Neelix went from Pony Club Championships to Willa’s first CCI4*. They also won team gold at the Junior European Championships in 2008 and team gold and individual silver at the Young Rider European Championships in 2001.
Willa finished university with a degree in Business Management and has since focused entirely on her eventing career. She has trained with Dirk Schrade and Bettina Hoy and has been bringing talented young horses up the levels.
In 2016, she won the 8/9 Year-Old National Championships at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials as well as the 7-Year-Old National Championships at Osberton.
She is currently based at her parents’ yard at Stonesby, near Melton Mowbray.
