Olympic event rider

Gemma is a popular face on the eventing circuit – known for her sense of humour, but steely determination.

She started riding at the age of 18 months, as her mother ran a riding school. Gemma proved to be a natural and by the time she was eight, she had won the riding club junior (U17) dressage championship and her very first one day event.

Gemma went on to successfully compete in pony trials and was selected to be part of the Junior British team in 2003. She then won two team gold medals at Young Rider level in 2005 and 2006,

The following year Gemma completed both Burghley and Badminton, winning the under 25 prize at the latter event.

Gemma went on to represent Team GB on the senior team, competing at the 2015 European Championships at Blair Castle in Scotland, finishing ninth on Arctic Soul, and the 2016 Rio Olympics with Quicklook V.

She won her first medal at the 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tryon, USA, riding Artic Soul, where the British eventing team took gold.

Gemma has also enjoyed great personal success. In 2017 she won the prestigious Event Rider Masters (ERM) series, the British Open at Gatcombe on Arctic Soul and came third at Burghley – again on the hugely talented ‘Spike’.

In 2019 she won the CCI4* at Bramham with Quicklook, finishing on an impressive dressage score of 21.6. At the same event, she came second in the long format CCI4* with Jalapeno III and sixth on Chilli Knight. Jalapeno went on to win at Lignieres in the ERM finale totally 4 x 4*S wins in the year!

In 2021 Bicton held the first 5* in the UK since 2019 due to Covid and Gemma aboard Chilli Knight won it making it her first 5* victory! She has maintained consistent top 10 placings in 5* events., completing Badminton five consecutive times to earn the Armada Dish.

Gemma has a great string of young upcoming horses with Chilli Morning IV winning the 7 year old Young Horse Championships at Le Lion D'Angers in 2024. In 2025 she also won the 3*L and 4*L at Millstreet aboard 2 lovely horses, Cooley Park Muze and Flash Cooley.

Gemma also branched out into show jumping seriously with her first grand prix 1.40m win at Hickstead in 2022 and winning the prestigious Six - Bar competition at the London International Horse Show 2024.

We are super excited to see what's next for Gemma!
