Environmental Commitment

Because a healthy planet is essential for our sport, our animals and
our wellbeing.

Our Standards

Charles Owen is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment, and improving it wherever possible.

Soon after our new environmentally conscious HQ was built, we won the Welsh Civic Trust award for our efforts to support and improve the local environment.

As a holder of the Royal Warrant, we are regularly audited as a company to ensure we are meeting or exceeding a wide range of sustainability, environmental and ethical standards.

Our Eco-Conscious Practises

Eco Friendly Design

We have a proactive approach to product design to now incorporate more environmentally friendly materials wherever possible. We continually build on collaborations with innovative partners to develop riding helmets and body protectors using recycled and recyclable or biodegradable materials

Our HQ

Our headquarters in Wrexham are surrounded by a wildflower meadow which supports insects and local wildlife. We also offer our staff electric car charging points on-site and a cycle to work scheme.

Tree Planting

Charles Owen is proud to partner with Ecologi to fund forest restoration projects. We plant over 800 trees a year with at least 10% of these planted within the UK. Charles Owen has funded the planting of 7,728 trees across 20 projects which has supported the prevention of 127.44 tCO2e from being emitted through 41 verified carbon avoidance projects.

Responsible Sourcing

Raw materials are sourced as locally as possible, from carefully vetted and responsible suppliers. We have also recently launched a new comprehensive company policy around ethical animal testing.

Packaging

All Charles Owen products are sold in eco-friendly packaging

Our Eco-Conscious Practises

Our Eco Committee

We have an internal committee that meet regularly to review our practices to ensure the business is meeting its environmental targets and goals as set by the company directors.

The key points of its strategy aim to minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible, minimising greenhouse gas emissions and actively promoting recycling both internally and amongst our customers and suppliers.

We also plan how we can minimise the environmental impact of both production and distribution, and meet or exceed all environmental legislation.
