Grand Prix Show Jumper

With more than 200 Grand Prix wins and over $3 million dollars in prize money earned, Aaron Vale’s position one of the greatest riders in American show jumping is secure.

“I never thought about doing anything else,” says Aaron of his decision to become a professional equestrian athlete. He began showing when he was eight years old and rode in his first grand prix at the age of 14. A frequent catch rider, he earned his rides through his repeated show-ring success.

On borrowed horses, Vale was reserve champion at all three prestigious equitation finals: the AHSA Medal, the Rolex Maclay and the USET Talent Search. He was also named Best Child Rider at Washington and The Pennsylvania National.

He has represented the U.S. Equestrian Team on multiple European Tours throughout his career. Highlights include winning the Rikstoto Grand Prix in Norway, the Queens Cup in Spain, and the first Peca Elendom Trophy Drammen in Norway. He rode on the winning Samsung Nation’s Cup team at the CSIO in Drammen, Norway in 2001.

In 2005, he rode his way to the top for most prize money earned, winning over $500,000 in jumper prize money. He jumped his way from 68th in the standings during the American Grand Prix Association 1999/2000 tour to 13th place in 2006, with AGA earnings that year at $36,750.

He has won the Washington International Presidents Cup three times, the Upperville Jumper Classic three times, the $100,000 HITS Grand Prix multiple times, the $50,000 Indianapolis Budweiser Grand Prix twice, and the $50,000 Roanoke Valley Grand Prix 13 times.

Aaron has carried his success into the other rings as well. He has been the winner of numerous USHJA Hunter International and National Derbies, and has also won the $500,000 Diamond Mills Hunter Prix twice.

He currently lives in Willison, FL, where he runs Thinkslikeahorse and produces quality jumpers, hunters, and equitation horses.
