Jennifer “Jen” Alfano is a hunter rider based out of SBS Farms in Buffalo, NY. She started riding at age three at her parents’ farm in Pennsylvania and competed on the local hunter/jumper circuit before beginning to train with Maxine Best and moving up to A-rated shows when she was 12. She capped off a successful junior career by finishing seventh in the USET Show Jumping Talent Search Finals and 10th in the USEF Medal Finals.

Jens spent he next two and a half years grooming for Greg Best and Gem Twist, traveling internationally with them to the Pan American Games, the Seoul Olympic Games, and to two FEI World Cup Finals.

In 1990, she partnered with Susie Schoellkopf at her SBS Farms in Buffalo, NY, to focus on her training and sales business. Together, they have developed hunters to the top of their discipline. One of these was Jersey Boy, a horse that Jen started working with as a four-year-old with no idea how illustrious a career he would have. Together, they’ve been at the top of the USHJA Hunter Derbies with a win in the championships in 2012.

Jen has been awarded the World Championship Hunter Rider Professional Champion twice and has earned over $400,000 in lifetime USHJA International Hunter Derby winnings as of 2015. She was also inducted into the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame.
