British dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin CBE is a triple gold medalist and currently holds all three world records with the legendary Valegro.

Charlotte began her riding career at a young age in showing where she found much success, including winning at Horse of the Year Show four times and Hickstead three times by the time she was 16. After leaving school at that point, she took up dressage and, at the beginning of 2007, she came to Carl Hester for lessons. He asked her to help out for 10 days and she never left, thus beginning one of the most celebrated and successful partnerships in the history of the sport.

Charlotte was given the ride on Carl Hester’s and Roly Luard’s gelding Valegro when the Dutch Warmblood was a young horse in 2007. The pair clicked so well that their relationship continued to the upper levels and they competed in their first Grand Prix in January 2011. They earned a record debut score of 74%, which just set the pace for their meteoric rise. They represented Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics, where they set a new record  with a score of 83.784% and won individual gold after a score of 90.089% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

They won the 2012 World Cup freestyle with a score of 87.875% and won the FEI World Cup in 2015 with a score of 94.169% on the final day of competition to earn their fourth consecutive World title. In their final Olympic Games together in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Charlotte and Valegro achieved team silver and individual gold, and set a new Olympic record with a score of 93.857% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Valegro retired in 2016 at age 14 at the height of his career. Charlotte continues to ride and train with Carl Hester and is currently developing a talented string of horses to the FEI levels, including her new Grand Prix mare Mount St. John Freestyle.
