International Grand Prix Show Jumper

Elizabeth “Beezie” Madden is an Olympic medalist and one of the top grand prix show jumpers in the world.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, Beezie began riding at age three and has transformed an early passion for horses into an incredible, record-setting career. She made her grand prix debut in 1985 and has since set multiple standards in the sport.

Beezie was the first woman to pass the $1 million mark in earnings and was the first woman and the first American to reach the top three in the FEI Show Jumping World Rankings list. She was also the first woman to win the King George Gold Cup at Hickstead with her longtime partner, Cortes ‘C.’ She has been named the USEF Equestrian of the Year four times.

She competed at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and helmed the U.S. win team gold. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the team once again took gold and Beezie earned a bronze medal individually. She also competed on the 2012 London Olympics team.

In 2013, Beezie won the FEI World Cup Finals with Simon, leading to him being named the 2013 USEF International Horse of the Year. The next year, she and Cortes ‘C’ won team and individual bronze at the 2014 World Equestrian Games. The next year, she competed in her tenth FEI World Cup Jumping Finals with Simon, and in 2016, she and Breitling LS were on the FEI Nations Cup winning team.

Beezie is based in Cazenovia, NY, where her husband runs John Madden Sales, an international training and sales business.
